What Do Bed Bugs Look Like?

Adult bed bugs are flat, oval-shaped, about the size of an apple seed, reddish-brown. After feeding they swell and become darker. Nymphs (immature bed bugs) are smaller, lighter in color and harder to spot. They’ll hide in cracks and crevices, mattress seams, upholstery folds or even behind wall décor.

Where Do They Hide & How Do They Spread?

Bed bugs hitchhike. Luggage, luggage racks, hotel beds, second-hand furniture, used mattresses. Once inside your home, they move very quietly and slowly. They prefer sleeping zones because that’s when humans are still and vulnerable. You won’t necessarily hear them  but you’ll often find signs.

Why They’re Hard to Eliminate

By the time you notice bites or signs, colonies may already be established. The eggs are resistant, hiding places are abundant, and normal home spray products seldom reach the deep nests. That’s why professional treatment is key.
